Edward Balbirnie has been CMC & Manufacturing Advisor at Biomunex for 5 years. Edward supports the development of innovative bispecific and muti-specific antibody programs. Edward brings over 30 years of international experience in biopharmaceutical development and industrialization. He has developed strong technical expertise across a wide range of modalities, including cell therapy, stem cells, gene therapy, monoclonal antibodies, recombinant proteins, vaccines, biosimilars, transgenic proteins, antibody-drug conjugates, and immunodiagnostics. Throughout his career, Edward has held senior management roles in biotech companies such as Polpharma Biologics (Poland), GamaMabs, IDM and Cellectis (France), Nanogen (Vietnam) and Trinity Biotech (Ireland), but also in large-scale industrial and Big Pharma operations such as Pfizer and Elan (Ireland), Novartis (Switzerland), and Gan & Lee Pharmaceuticals (China). Edward studied Biotechnology at Dublin City University and holds a PhD in Medical Microbiology from University College Dublin. He is also a Qualified Person and holds an MSc in Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Technology from Trinity College Dublin.
